ASATU eulogizes Soludo, others for Peaceful Town Union Election

The National President, Anambra State Association of Towns Unions ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo has eulogized Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Some State actors and Eziowelle community Stakeholders for being instrumental to ensuring that peace returns to Eziowelle Community through the conduct of a credible and peaceful Eziowelle Improvement Union (EIU) election that produced Dr. Julian Obiora as the President General(PG) of the community.

Akpudo who was the Outgoing PG, EIU after 9 years gave the commendation last weekend at the Civic Center, Eziowelle, Idemili North LGA after what was adjudged as a free,fair, transparent and credible election where Dr Julian Obiora emerged as PG with 105 votes while his fellow aspirant, Mr. Izuchukwu Akuche polled only 38 votes.

According to him, I am so happy today that against the impression created by few unrepentant individuals who refused to join me in bringing further development in my beloved community I am handing over to a capable successor of which Eziowelle people can attest of his maturity to lead them towards greater achievements”.

“I am grateful to Mr Governor for bringing solution to the lingering leadership crises caused by these few dissenting voices in Eziowelle. I thank, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Mr Collins Nwabunwanne for standing firm and resolute during my moments of trials.My regards also to the ASATU body and delegation who came to monitor today’s election. I will not forget his Majesty, Igwe Mike Okonkwo Etusi (Owelle Eziowelle), history will not forget his great achievements for our community”, Akpudo said.

After commending the illustrious sons and daughters of Eziowelle for their contribution towards the development of the community and standing for peace, Akpudo advised the incoming EXCO never to fight the throne but rather seek collaboration and counsel that will promote peace, unity and progress of the entire community.

Earlier in his acceptance speech, Dr Julian Obiora appreciated the electoral committee led by Chief Dr Laz Okafor, the outgoing EIU EXCO and the entire Eziowelle people who came from far and near to choose him as their leader.

“I am elated and at the same time ready to give my best to the progress of my community. I will begin with restoring peace and unity. I will ensure that our health centre is equipped and upgraded to a general hospital with resident doctors. For Infrastructure, with the help of my exco and the cabinet we will also attract sponsors to construct and asphalt our intra-community roads,” Obiora said.

Leader of ASATU delegation, Hon Ebuka Onuora advised the newly elected PG to learn from the outgoing PG who built a magnificent town hall as one of his achievements in Eziowelle so as to learn the ropes saying that community leadership comes with a huge responsibility.

The newly EIU elected executives to pilot the affairs for a single tenure of 4 years include PG – Dr Julian Obiora,Vice President 1(VPG1) – Chukwudi Emegwa, Vice President (VPG2) – Nwabu Ekwunife, Secretary General – Tochukwu Ideh, Assistant Secretary – Paul Chukwuebuka Atusiuba, Financial Secretary – Anyaegbu Kingsley, Treasurer – Okolo John Chuka, Publicity Secretary – Onwuazombe

Others are Provost 1 – Akpudo Chuma, Provost 2 – Nonso Oraedu, Organizing Secretary –
Chiemezie Onyema, Umunnama Circulator – Aroh Ifeanyi, Okpaliko Circulator – Anigbogu Cheta, Umuikwelle- Circulator – Omezie Ikemelu, Ubulu Circulator – Udengwu Osita Jude, Ezinimo Circulator – Olum, Paul Emeka.
