Anambra State Govt Arrests 16 Illegal Revenue Collectors, Sand Miners

Anambra state government has paraded sixteen illegal revenue collectors and sand miners extorting and intimidating residents and motorists in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

Five of the suspects were arrested while masquerading themselves as government IGR collectors while another eleven were arrested while dredging sand from unapproved areas which were sealed off by the state government at Second Niger Bridge.

Parading the suspects in Awka, the Managing Director, Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Comrade Celestine Anere said that the suspects who are unknown to the state government, intimidate and extort unsuspecting members of public of their hard earned money while dispossessing others of their property.

The leader of the suspected illegal revenue collectors who were arrested and paraded, Mr Obiorah Arinze from Ogbaru said that he was contracted by Nwa Chike-Aba Nigeria Limited and was told that they had obtained all necessary government permits to work with all required signatures and stamps.
