Anambra: Police arrests Six suspected cultists , recover arms

The police in Anambra State have arrested six suspected cult members terrorising the state.

The spokesman of the command, Haruna Mohammed, said yesterday, that following intelligence report in Igbariam in Anambra East Local Government Area, the command’s Special Anti Cult unit (SPAC) arrested four of the suspects.
The suspected cultists are: Uyunwane Ikenna, 22; Mbam Onyeka, 21; Omaka Favor, 23 and Onyeka Osaegbu, 23 years. Exhibits allegedly found in their possession included a locally made single barrel pistol.
He said all the suspects have confessed to being members of Senior Vikings Confraternity Secret Cult ( SVC).

Also, Mohammed said in a separate operation, two other suspects were arrested namely, Ezeoke Arinze, 22, and Onochie Chibuzor, 23.
He said the suspects also belonged to a secret cult group known as Baggars AKA SVC and are all students of Anambra State University (ANSU), Igbariam Campus.
Mohammed said their cases are still under investigation after which they would be charged to court for prosecution.
The command urged parents to caution their children against joining secret cults or any criminal sub-culture in order not to be arrested and prosecuted.
