Anambra Police Arrest Pablo and Over 300 Suspects in Major Crime Bust

The Anambra State Police Command has announced significant achievements in its ongoing efforts to curb crime and criminal activities across the state. At a press briefing at the police headquarters in Awka, Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, revealed that the command had recently apprehended a notorious kidnapper known as Pablo, who had been terrorizing Ihiala, Anambra State, as well as parts of Enugu and Delta States. Over 300 suspects were arrested in total, with 15 securing convictions and 14 kidnap victims rescued unharmed. The police also recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition, including 43 unexploded improvised devices, over 100 firearms of various types, and 2,937 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 40 stolen vehicles and several motorcycles were recovered. Notable operations also saw the elimination of those responsible for an attack on police officers in Uruagu Nnewi, the arrest of an 18-year-old involved in a planned cult killing, and the dismantling of several criminal camps, such as one in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, where 19 unexploded devices were seized. Two notorious cultists were arrested in Awka, with a pump-action gun, four live cartridges, and other items recovered. Furthermore, the police rescued three children who had been stolen from their parents in Bauchi State and sold in Anambra State. Four suspects, including an illegal foster mother, were arrested and confessed to the crime. The police are urging the public to assist in identifying the rescued children and reunite them with their families. They also called for more information on suspicious activities, stressing that security is a shared responsibility. The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo for their continued support. He reassured the public that the command remains committed to furthering crime prevention and maintaining law and order in the state.
