Anambra: Hon Odoji Sensitizes New Auto Spare Parts Traders On The New Traders General Purpose Levy

In a bid to ensure total compliance on the new Traders General Purpose Levy (GPL) the Coordinator, Enforcement and Compliance, State Internal Revenue Services, Hon Chike Odoji on 17th July visited New Auto Spare Parts Market Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Speaking during the visit at the market hall, Hon.Odoji sensitized and enlightened the traders on the need to understand and comply to all the necessary payments and modalities of government market levy called Traders General Purpose Levy(GPL)2024.

The Chairman of the market, Chief Obiora Ofoleh disclosed that “Hon.Odoji came to add to our tune because the Traders have been informed ab initio about the new development”.

“As a private market, we are to pay #17,500 both per shop and individual this means that if I am a shop owner and I have up to 3 workshops, I am going to pay for each of the shops as the owner of the property while the Traders will pay per head even if they are three in a particular shop.

“We have been paying #7,400 prior before now, from former Governor Peter Obi administration but considering the economic situation, the state have been managing it till this year, it was now raised to #17,500.

“If you check around, Anambra State is the least in terms of taxes, Traders levy but it didn’t stop the Governor from all the infrastructural development in all the nooks and crannies of the state, employment of 12,000 servants, digging of pipe borne water, traders’ welfare and other commendable achievements under two years which are the result of these government levies”.

He appreciated Hon. Odoji for coming to educate the traders and advised the traders to always remit the government’s levy appropriately, noting that it’s a way of supporting the good work of Governor Charles Soludo.

The traders in their various remarks after deliberations, questions and answers affirmed that Mr Governor is physically and verifiably working for ndi Anambra and he deserves every necessary support for a continuous development of the State.

They therefore assured that they cannot default in any government’s levy or be found wanting as it concerns support to the state government.
