Accountancy Dept, Federal Poly Oko Honours Two Retired Faculty Members In Send-forth Party
It was a mixed feeling of joy and nostalgia as the Department of Accountancy, Federal Polytechnic, Oko celebrated the duo of Dr J.C. Aroh and Dr. C. E. Ubaka for their successful retirement from the department. The event took place at Mass Communication Conference Centre on Thursday.
The highlight was presentation of Deep freezer and gifts to each of the retired staff. Goodwill messages were also received from guests, friends and well wishes and they included messages from the Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Chioma I. Awuzie, HRH Igwe Uchime (Diji of Ufuma town) and former Rector of the institution, Prof. Eugene Nwadialor.
The Head, Department of Accountancy, Dr. Emmanuel C. Ezenwafor who doubled as the chairman of the event, appreciated the Rector of the polytechnic for accepting to host the event, although she was unavoidably absent. He appreciated God for the rerired colleagues and prayed for all the staff to benefit from such celebrations in their own time.
The event was attended by dignitaries and they included the former Ag. Chairman of the 11th Governing Council Hon. Kemelayefa Omonibeke who was the Special guest of honour; Prof. U. C. Nzewi, former Rector of the institution; Comr. C. B. Asomugha, former National President, ASUP; Nze Henry Nnebe, President of Alumni, Council Member, Dr. Ifensor Egwuchukwu of the Department of Languages and Ven. Dr. Ferguson Ezeokafor, DAP and other friends.
The two retired academics are known for their contributions in the development of the Accountancy Department of the institution. They have also written their names in gold as distinguished members of accounting professional bodies in Nigeria.
