Umuahia, Aug. 6, 2024 (NAN)
The Abia Commissioner for Information, Mr Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday in Umuahia during a briefing on the outcome of the weekly Executive Council meetings.
He said that the rural electrification initiative of the state government would be executed in the three senatorial zones of the state.
“It is appropriate to note that more than 2,500 solar powered lights had been installed across the state, mainly between Umuahia, Aba and Ohafia.
“It will include such isolated institutions like Abia State University and some government and public buildings in the state.
“The state government is committed to ensuring that the programme is executed in all the nooks and crannies of Abia state.’’
Kanu noted that the government had warned persons who drove without plate numbers or with covered plate numbers to desist from such untoward behaviour or continue at their own risk.
“Of course, you know that with the heightened security situation we have now in the country, it would not be nice for anybody to be caught driving without proper plate numbers”, he said.
The commissioner revealed that government would soon resuscitate the rural electrification project in the rural communities.
He said that the government would soon commence the revamping of Ariaria and Ubakala water projects.
Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, while responding to questions, dismissed the rumoured taking away of staff of office of Eze Aro the 9th, Eze Eberechukwu Oji.
Ekeoma said that the staff of office of the newly crowned Eze Aro, Oji, had not been withdrawn as the government was not served with any court order. (NAN) (w
