NASIEC Postpones LG election, claims COVID-19 as reason.

The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission NASIEC has postponed the scheduled 27th February,2021 LG election in the state ,gave reason of coronavirus pandemic being a major factor.

Owing to the above reason, the state electoral body could not be certain in the new date as it proposed between April and May of this year to conduct the council election.

Chairman of the commission Barr.Ayuba Wandai revealed this after meeting with the state leadership of Inter-party Advisory Council in Lafia on Tuesday.

Wandai however pointed at the ravaging effect of Covid 19 pandemic,logistics and administrative challenges as major reasons for the postponement.

Responding, the state chairman of Inter-party Advisory Council Cletus Ogah appreciated NASIEC boss for the steps taken but insisted that the council will not accept caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the LGs in the state.
