FG Targets 70% Local Production of Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices by 2030 — Pate

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, says the Federal Government aims to boost local production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices to 70% by 2030, under the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain.
Speaking in a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Pate added that the plan also includes producing a large share of the vaccines consumed in Nigeria locally.
He credited the progress to the presidential initiative launched in November 2023, led by National Coordinator Dr. Abdu Mukhtar, which has attracted major investment commitments.
Pate further noted that the initiative plans to expand the life sciences manufacturing workforce significantly, increasing from about 20,000 workers to tens of thousands over the coming years.
