Group Demands Resubmission of 2025 Budget or Faces Legal Action – SZC Warns Zamfara Gov. Lawal
The Save Zamfara Coalition (SZC) has issued a warning to Governor Dauda Lawal, demanding he recognize the newly elected leadership of the Zamfara State House of Assembly or face legal consequences. This follows the return of ten suspended lawmakers who reconvened, elected a new speaker, and called for the resubmission of the 2025 budget.
The coalition praised the lawmakers for defying what it termed “executive tyranny” and restoring parliamentary independence. SZC criticized the governor’s governance, citing alleged public servant dismissals, security neglect, and manipulation of the assembly.
The group emphasized that the new speaker’s election followed due process, and any refusal by Governor Lawal to acknowledge it would be seen as a constitutional violation. SZC has pledged to resist any such actions through legal and civil means, calling for greater transparency and accountability in the state’s fiscal decisions.
