Synod: Rev. Foreman charges Christians on upright living 

Rt. Revd. Nedison Foreman, the Bishop, Diocese of Jalingo, has urged christians to embrace uprightness in spite of the current socio-economic challenges in the country.

Foreman made the call during his sermon in Awka on Thursday at the 13th Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Province of the Niger Diocese.

In the sermon, titled: ”You must win”, the bishop said that although the times were difficult, christians should endeavour to avoid sinful acts

Foreman advised christians to arm themselves with principles capable of guiding them to live upright lifestyle.

He urged them to embrace discipline, determination, dedication, patience and sacrifice.

”If christians strive to live in line with these principles, they certainly will be far from sins that may rob them eternity.

”True Christians must not falsify their work age, they are not supposed to work with certificates earned by other people.

”Christians need to run away from movies that are not edifying, they should avoid alcoholism.

”There is a price to win when you run the christian race with the fear of God, your generation will be blessed even when you are gone,” he said.

The President of the synod, His Grace, Most Revd. Alexander Ibezim, the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Niger and Bishop, Diocese of Awka, urged all delegates to be committed to the four-day programme.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Synod is being hosted by Awka Central Archdeaconry, Church of The Pentecost, Awka.

The theme for this year’s synod is: ”Running the Christians Race: Implications for the church in perilous times”

527 faithful were in attendance at the opening service, with two archbishops and five bishops.

Delegates for the synod were drawn from 22 archdeaconries from 92 parishes in the diocese.
