49 Killed in Plateau Night Attack, Troops Rescue 16 Kidnap Victims
At least 49 people were killed in a midnight attack on Zike hamlet in Kwall District, Bassa LGA of Plateau State on Sunday, with homes razed and several others injured. The Irigwe Development Association blamed suspected Fulani attackers and criticized security lapses despite prior warnings.
In a separate development, troops of Operation Safe Haven rescued 16 kidnapped passengers, including six children, along the Jos–Mangu road. The victims were freed after a gunfight with the abductors and later escorted to safety. Authorities have condemned the attack and vowed decisive action against the perpetrators.
