At least 231 Nigerians, rescued from human traffickers in Ghana, are expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday. The victims, mostly young men, were lured with fake job offers and forced into cybercrime operations, confined in 25 rooms within an estate.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, thanked Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) for the humane rescue operation and warned youths against falling for fraudulent overseas job offers.

Many of the victims showed signs of abuse, with some sustaining severe injuries. Odumegwu-Ojukwu urged the returnees to embrace government rehabilitation and skills programs, stressing that “trafficking is modern-day slavery.”
